Play and Leisure Skills

Supporting the development of play and leisure skills.

Play is a naturally developing phenomenon that gives enjoyment to children and contributes to the development of cognitive, social, language, literacy, emotional, creative, and sensorimotor skills. Children with Autism may acquire play skills to varying degrees and experience challenges and difficulties in many of the domains of play. However, with structure, motivation, and support, children and youth with Autism can be successful in developing meaningful play and leisure skills.
